It's kind of odd. My fiance when we first started dating used skin whiteners. But I told her I like her the way she is and her skin is a beautiful dark color but she still wants to look white as a geisha. In America we have tanning salons to look darker even though they cause wrinkles. She says light skin is more feminine. But I prefer her the way she is.
She has a pango nose which i think is adorable. She says it's a bad thing but in America only the prettiest girls have them and the opposite Jewish style nose is hated.
A lot of Asian girls I know hate their straight black hair but in Germany all the blonds dye their hair black and straighten it.
What gives? Is this a case of grass is greener or is there something deeper?
Whatever it is I seem to disagree cause she thinks she is ugly and I think she is a goddess.
What is the standard of good looking men? since I do have her taste to cater too :P
What is the Philippine standard of beauty?
most ppl are not contented with what they have, to the dark skinned ppl, fair(white) is beauty, to the white(fair), tanned(dark)skinned is health, the same is true for fat, tall, blondes, etc, etc. ppl in asian countries wanted to work %26amp; lived in the us, while they wants to moved to asia, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, if you wants to 'cater' to such a flimsy %26amp; fickle thing as 'her taste' then my friend, you're in for a looooong haul, have looooots of patience

my step mom is from there to and she does the same thing if someone"white"(not to be reasict) goes there it's like god came down i dont know why but that's how it is.
What is the Philippine standard of beauty?
I've heard that Filipinos often prefer chunkier people to physically fit ones; so yeah, there is a big difference in the way most Americans and Filipinos tend to see beauty. I hadn't heard about the rest, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's true. My suggestion is not to worry too much about it since beauty is in the eye of the beholder and your girlfriend is already attracted to you anyway.
What is the Philippine standard of beauty?
seriously with my experiences in the philippines, lots of money. the elephant man would have wives if he had money there
What is the Philippine standard of beauty?
we all have different concepts of beauty, and they can and do change over time. the media is what causes people like your girl to doubt her looks. the media paints pictures of preferred beauty that is backed by billion dollar industries.
I prefer character, even though looks attract me in the first place, it is only the means to the end, not the end itself. if a person isnt interesting, then no matter the looks, they are less than desirable.
I like tall, short, blond, dark, tanned, white, etc. but no two characters are the same.

i'm half filipina myself and i totally know where she's coming from. not just filipinas though, other asian women as well. light skin is believed to mean clean and indeed very feminine.
skin whiteners (sometimes bleach) and peroxide, is all part of their beauty regimen. i was already born with light skin because my grandfather was german but i hated my dark hair so i had my share of bottles and bottles of peroxide to get it lighter.
i just wanted to look different from my other filipina peers. maybe thats why.
What is the Philippine standard of beauty?
im a filipina also %26amp; i understand why ur gf wanted to gets whiter coz almost all filipina long to be whiter, in my place its annoying to have dark skin %26amp; people appreciate those lucky who have whiter skin..i admit i really work a lot to be more whiter too even though my skin is fair like my father, but as i turn 30 i realized that its ok to have any color of the skin as long as it is healthy and it glow, now i stop using those whiteners from soap to lotion and all. things i did is avoid myself from sun exposure to avoid skin damage...
