Is this Peer Pressure?

I'm in eighth grade and there's this group of skaters. Most of them are my friends but I feel left out. I'm the only smart, short-haired asian in the group. THey all have long hair, wear skinny jeans and always dress in black. And none of them are Asian. They're not retarded but they are in the reccommended area of the grading scale. I'm above that. Anyways, I want to learn how to skateboard but I don't like black and I don't like skinny jeans. I want to become physically active but I don't want to seem like a poser. Or I'm giving into Peer Pressure. So does that sound like peer pressure to you?

Is this Peer Pressure?

No. It doesn't.............................

Is this Peer Pressure?

no itz when they are forcen you to do somthing

Is this Peer Pressure?

It's only peer pressure if you don't initially want to do it, and somebody has to talk you into it. talking you into it can count by just suggesting it, because sometimes people feel really pressured. and if you don't feel comfortable being a poser, that's defintiely OK. just stay like you are, and if your friends aren't ok with that, just (i know it sounds lame) walk away.

btw--don't tell ppl you're in grade eight somebody could stalk you or something

Is this Peer Pressure?

yes. just be yourself....trying to be/act like something or someone you are not will just add more drama and unhappiness in yourlife. if you can accept yourself for who you are and not give a damn about how other people view/think of you...you will truely be happy. just be who YOU are.

Is this Peer Pressure?

Its not peer pressure, you just want to bellong. I wold go out and get a set of rollerblades =]

Really though, being a skater myself (former skater really) they are kind of being posers since skater culture dictates wearing jeans that can hold your whole body in one leg. Go out and get a skateboard, big pair of Jnco jeans or proper equivalent and the brightest shirt you can find. Have fun and dont brake any bones.

Is this Peer Pressure?

no its not peer pressure.... Peer pressure is when they try to get you to do something that you dont want to do and if you say no they start saying that your a baby and your stupid... stuff like that... just so you'll give in and do what they want.

What your saying is simply that you dont want to be a poser... If you are any good at skating than if they call you a poser... prove to them that you actually know how to skate. If you arent any good maybe ask them if they can give you tips or show you some tricks. they should sccept you no matter how you look. If not... then they arent worth it!

hope this helps!!!

=)

Is this Peer Pressure?

No, it just sounds like you want to take interest in your friend's activities..

As long as they are not constantly trying to get you to do so, it's not peer pressure. It's your own choice. As long as you feel it's the right choice, do it. Just remember to be yourself. Your friends should accept you no matter what, and it seems to me that they didn't become friends with you because of your skateboarding skills.

If it looks like fun to you, tell your friends that you're interested in learning and want some pointers. And you don't have to look like them to fit in with them.

Is this Peer Pressure?

no it's not pure pressure your all guys who hang out

nothing bad

simply ask them to help you learn to skate and make a deal

get close to them by just hanging around doing guy stuff like mess around with each other

the black and skinny jeans thing is just some

most skaters where regular jeans and skate brands

being Asian has nothing to do with it I've seen Asian skaters

Is this Peer Pressure?

if you genuinely want to do it then it isnt peerpressure

Is this Peer Pressure?

its not peer pressure because they are not actually trying to make you do something, it sounds more like conformity to me.

you can still be a skater. it doesnt mean you have to wear black, wear skinny jeans, and be a dumbass. Dress like you normally do. maybe you'll set a good example.

Is this Peer Pressure?

dude you don't really need to learn how to skateboard to fit it try finding what you like and that you share a interest so if you don't like skateboard i suggest you find something in you common that you like to share

Is this Peer Pressure?

SKATERS arent that physically active they just seem that way and u can still be smart but lots of black clothes. skinnyjeans.and long hair is there thing if u think them just being thyrselves is peer pressure u shudnt hang out with them and thyr often into bad things becuz i was the girl who wanted to be in and when i finally was i learned they did drugs smoked and drank u can say no thats not them at alll but some r so u shud watch and also being a skater means freedom most of all so do what u want to do and if u look thyr is a groupof skaters to fit that. like where i live thyr r 4 groups of skaters punks, emos ,ghettos, and the ones who dont fit in 1 word thyr just what they r and thats all but still dont get into bad things becuz trust me its all fun and games till u get kicked out of the house for 3 months and sent away im still regaining privileges .....so enof about me and good luck to u im sure youll find something

Is this Peer Pressure?

peer pressure is when your peers force yu into doing something you dont want to do.

since yu want to skate board, and yu dont like black why dont yu learn to skate board and not wear black?

if they're already yur friends they already like you.

please, yu can teach them school smarts, and they can teach yu skate boarding smarts.

remember peer pressure isnt always bad :)

Is this Peer Pressure?

one of my old best friends

i knew him back like freshamn year (were seniors now) he had started skating out of peer pressure in the 5th grade to try to be cool and then actually became good at it and by like freshman year he had a sponsor. so yeah just practice by your house by yourself and then try to go out to skate parks , your only in eight grade you have at leats like a year until hs

but i dont know , where i lived the whole skatin scene went out as soon as we got to sophmore year , after sophmore year noone skated anymore and the few that still do arent really that tight , and basically noone knows them.

if you want to be really active, go practice a sport, now THAT will never go out of style and actually help you ALOT in your social life as a high schooler

Is this Peer Pressure?

no.. but can I meet them? They sound really hott and I'm just like them.. same grade and everything.. WOOHOO
