Beauty: is it cultural/racial or universal??

okay i was talking to my friends as usual about this and like most of us do believe that beauty is defined differently in different races and cultures but we also acknowledge that white oppression in society has taken its toll on pretty much every other race/culture. thats why the universal pageants and what not usually favor a more european look, why asians like eye surgery, why black girls and some latinas always have to have straight hair, why darker skin is often seen as less desirable, why most white/asian/etc. guys like anorexic looking chicks, etc.

im black. yay me : ) and im only 18 but as i get older i start favoring a more ethnic look. i still think every race is equal but sometimes i just get bored with blonde haired blue eyed girls with orange skin and no shape. i definitely think black women are beautiful but my friends always point out that ive never dated a black guy.hypocritical? its confusing. what about you? opinions plz!! : )

Beauty: is it cultural/racial or universal??

you dont have to date a black guy to be ethnic. be who you are. dont conform! like who you like, just be proud of where you come from (unlike some self hating blacks on here). you have to set your own standard of beauty and do not worry about what "others" think. they are just followers and following the crowd. if you do that, you will be following your whole life and end up unhappy in the end.

i favor an ethnic look as well, there is nothing wrong with loving who you are naturally. and people will be coming out of the woodwork to love you just the way you are.

Beauty: is it cultural/racial or universal??

I don't know what to say.

Beauty: is it cultural/racial or universal??

beauty is only skin deep.

Beauty: is it cultural/racial or universal??

You just answered your own question. People would like to regard beauty as cultural but in reality it's racial. Every culure has their general idea of what beauty is to them. however most especially the people that live in the US will give standard answers to what is beautiful. The standard of beauty has never changed, maybe the features have changed but the color hasn't.

White people will always be seen as the object every other race should want. Blonde hair blue eyes and fair skin is standard know matter how people will try to deny it. Yes people have their own opinions but if you ask them if they find an Alex Wek beautiful you will get surprising answers.

Everyone has so much europhillia its sad. Long hair light skin and a slim body with some sort of non brown eye and thin nose is also standard. Although today white women are getting tans to be non white get lip injections to get non white lips get breast implants and butt injections to be latina/black, as long as their skin color isn't black then its fine. Because people want the typical black features as long as their on a white face.

It goes both ways though. In order for most whites to think a black girl is pretty she must have light skin and typical euro features.

Asians aren't excused either some are now getting eyelid surgery to "open the eyes" and skin bleach is very prevalent their and in India. Even in Latin america girls get the butt implants and have a whole caste system to distinguish light to dark.

As I see its all racially charged. Tan-light skin, Slim, long straight hair black lips thin nose and a black girl but is what is considered beautiful. With this in mind it leaves dark skinned girls of every ethnicity out.

Beauty: is it cultural/racial or universal??

Ahh well I think fair (not orange) with colored eyes and red/ blonde hair are the most attractive traits for a women. I get bored with dark skin and dark eyes and hair.

See what I mean?

Everyones opinion on beauty is different.

Oh and for your information, we have curves too, we just aren't fat :)
