Okay, so I've noticed all the hate in this section?

HONESTLY, I am a Black Indian. My father has thick straight black hair and the stereotypical "Native American" nose. My mother has hair WAY past her waist and she just cut it shoulder length today. I realize that they're are a lot of people : white, black, native american, asian, etc. that are not aware of the existence of black indians and/or are in denial. I was in Raleigh, NC today at the mall, and this lady wanted to know what I was "mixed with." My skin is brown with a reddish hue, my hair long and straight, my eyebrows thick, my nose somewhat wide, thick, but hooked at the end. So I told her, I was of Cherokee Indian and African-American descent. She asked me, "are you sure it's cherokee?" I said, "yes, I'm pretty sure I know my family history more than you do." Why are people KNOWINGLY of cherokee descent always scrutinized? I know of other Native American tribes, but I claim Cherokee because that's who I am. The video may be helpful.

Didnt you already post this?

Anyways, I think she asked "Are you sure?" because she was thinking of the typical ndn in her mind. (Whatever that may be). Not all of us look alike. So i feel you on this one.

Hmmmmm

Okay, so I've noticed all the hate in this section?

Why is race such an issue with people. I cannot imagine walking up to a girl in a mall and saying; "What race are you"

Am I the only one this has never come up to?

If someone told me they were cherokee I would say; "OKay"

Now, why does it matter and how does it come up amongst perfect strangers?

Did you say; "I know I look black but I am an Indian"

Okay

Cherokee has become the prime keyword for many to claim even when they aren't...likely making it tougher on those who actually so have it. Then again, who knows what that woman knows, maybe she also recognized features of another line you don't even know is there...considering we probably all have heritage we don't know we have.
