I am Black my boyfriend is white i'm about halle berry's complection maybe a tiny bit lighter and have reddish hair.People are always asking me am i mixed with something i have been asked do i have asian,hispanic,and native american in me on seperate occasion of course.My mom has been asked if she was white,native american,and mxican on seperate occasions.When people ask what do i have in my family background we have german so that's what i tell them.My boyfriend says i shouldn't tell people that cause it's like im denying i'm all black which i'm not i'm being honest.He on the other hand lies and tells people he is sicilian cause he thinks sicilians are cool he even lies and says he was born in sicily.Then when he gets mad he wants to tell me i'm a fake black girl should i stop telling people my family background when im asked since it was my grandfather's side of the family not by marriage blood relative.

Sound like your boyfriend is jealous of you. It doesn't matter what your ancestry is, be proud of yourself. Anyone who thinks they have to lie about their heritage is liable to be lieing about a great many other things too....

If you describe yourself accurately you must have a mixed background somewhere along the line. Don't know if your really interested in finding out, but there are ways. Genealogy is one of them.

Many people don't think you shouldn't claim a race if you are not directly mixed meaning less than 1/2 of that race. Maybe he's one of those people.

I've heard people tell me they are mixed because their great great great great great grandmother was some other race. That's kind of far back. At that point I don't really consider the person mixed either.

if asked my ethnic roots, I would answer does it matter? you are who you are and should celebrate the diversity that makes us the unique creatures we are, what ever the shade of your skin or the colour of your hair, I am sure you are lovely and the best person on the planet at being you! If you're mixed, then you're mixed, so what is he so worked up about? It's not like you are saying you are ONLY German and not black at all...

Honestly, it sounds like he has control issues. If he has to control simple stuff like that, like what YOU are able to tell other people about your own heritage, then...be careful with him. You shouldn't have to act a certain way beyond your normal self and conform to what he wants, that is not good at all. If you change anything, I'd suggest it be a change of heart over this guy and find one that can take you being your own person.
